As many of you may remember, in October 2008 FIRE President Greg Lukianoff personally donated $25,000 to support the Campus Freedom Network and challenged FIRE donors to match this $25,000 gift with gifts of their own. I’m excited that many of you have done just that. To date, we’ve received just over $17,000 towards this goal.
To all of you who have helped us to reach this point, thank you. Your support has helped the CFN to grow and to expand its influence at colleges across the nation. Today, more than 2,200 students and faculty members at nearly 800 schools count themselves as part of FIRE’s dynamic grassroots coalition for campus freedom.
If you haven’t yet given to this worthy cause, I challenge you to give just $10 to the Campus Freedom Network today. We’re two-thirds of the way to reaching our $25,000 goal, and we need your help to bring us the rest of the way. Every dollar counts.
In three short months, the CFN will be hosting its 2009 summer conference, where students will spend three days learning about their rights and how to defend them on campus. The nearly $8,000 still needed to reach our goal would cover the costs of bringing sixteen students to this conference—and of sending them back to their campuses to restore freedom to thousands of their fellow students. Donate today to help us reach our goal by the start of the conference on June 18, and you will be investing in the futures of students across the nation. Just be sure to let us know that you would like your donation to support the CFN.
And don’t forget about the newest way to support FIRE—through Facebook! Through the Facebook.com Causes application, you can make a donation to the Campus Freedom Network, add a box to your profile showing your support for our mission, and even invite friends to join the cause. If you can’t donate today, join our cause and help us to get the word out about FIRE!
