FIRE Announces 2010 Campus Freedom Network Student Conference

FIRE is proud to announce that its third annual Campus Freedom Network (CFN) Student Conference will be held July 15-17 at Bryn Mawr College just outside of Philadelphia. The conference will begin with dinner on Thursday evening, followed by a day and a half of lectures and panels. Students will hear from leading experts on First Amendment rights on campus and take part in workshops in which they will learn how they can defend core constitutional freedoms at their own colleges and universities.

Friday night's keynote speaker is Jonathan Rauch, a scholar at the Brookings Institution, columnist for National Journal magazine, and a contributing editor at The Atlantic Monthly. Rauch has authored several books including Kindly Inquisitors: The New Attacks on Free Thought.

We welcome all college students interested in defending free speech on campus to come to the all-expenses-paid conference. But space is limited and students should register soon. Unfortunately, we were forced to turn students away for lack of space last year.

The conference is open only to student CFN members, for whom FIRE will also provide up to $300 for travel to Bryn Mawr. Interested students should register for the CFN here, and CFN members can apply for the conference here.

Stay tuned. We will unveil more details about the conference in the coming weeks.
