Sonia Deel has joined FIRE’s staff as our event coordinator!
Based out of FIRE’s Washington D.C. office, Sonia will work extensively across our various departments to plan and execute our events, from our annual conferences to our live podcasts and debates.
“FIRE’s passion, dedication, and culture show in its employees, and I couldn’t be more excited to now be one of them,” said Sonia.
Sonia received her undergraduate degree in marketing from York College of Pennsylvania in 2016, where she served as the senior class president, and received her M.S. in marketing at American University.
“Being someone who has family and friends from all over the political spectrum has really taught me how important it is to be open to not only speaking your opinion, but also listening to others that you agree with and don’t agree with,” said Sonia. “You don’t have to agree, but censorship prevents the expression of ideas and growth. What could be more important than growth?”
Before coming to FIRE, Sonia worked for the Walt Disney Company in Orlando, Florida. She has also held numerous research positions, focusing on consumer ethics, behavior change marketing, market research, and data analysis.
