A Fresno State professor was recorded this month erasing a student’s sidewalk-chalk antiabortion messages while declaring, “College campuses are not free-speech areas.” In 2015, Cal Poly Pomona agreed to revise its policies and pay damages to a student prevented from handing out leaflets advocating veganism outside its “free-speech zone.” And in two particularly ironic cases, community college students in Modesto and Los Angeles were told not to distribute copies of the document granting that right, the U.S. Constitution. . . .
