An opinion piece in the London Free Press (London, Ontario) draws on America's First Amendment jurisprudence to remind universities in Canada how important free speech is to academic freedom and the pursuit of knowledge. The expansion of speech regulation on Canadian university campuses serves as a reminder of the dangers of allowing the suppression of political speech.
