Check out the excellent editorial from the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s Badger Herald on the ongoing debacle at UW-Madison and University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire:

This board feels that RAs within the UW System have the right to lead ideological discussions in their own dorm rooms so long as such sessions remain strictly voluntary. To ban an RA from observing a belief is to ban an RA from being human. That the committee appointed by the UW System would advocate guidelines allowing each school to make its own policy regarding the matter is ludicrous and misguided.

Yes, the colleges may prevent RAs from abusing their authority to coerce students to attend Bible study meetings, but banning RAs from having private religious time and space goes far beyond any legitimate aim. The policy is overbroad and insulting, and it should be repealed.
