FIRE Fights for Freedom on the Nation’s Editorial Pages
FIRE Director of Legal and Public Advocacy Greg Lukianoff began the new school year with three new and important columns. The Chronicle of Higher Education asked Lukianoff to weigh in on whether or not there is a "chill" on campus free speech. In the Boston Globe, Lukianoff enumerates several quite misguided court decisions that came down this summer and notes that students may think their rights have taken a "permanent vacation." Finally, in an Inside Higher Ed piece co-written with FIRE summer legal intern Azhar Majeed, Lukianoff discusses college administrators' frequent abuse of the "threat" exemption to the First Amendment in order to punish speech they dislike.
