FIRE Welcomes Brandon Stewart

FIRE welcomes the newest member of our team, Brandon Stewart, who is the new program associate for FIRE's Campus Freedom Network. Brandon is a 2008 graduate of Wabash College, where he was active in a number of organizations on campus, including serving as founder and editor-in-chief of a campus news and opinion magazine, The Phoenix. In addition to publishing a monthly magazine, Brandon's organization also brought a number of speakers to campus, ranging from National Review editor-at-large Jonah Goldberg to former US Attorney General John Ashcroft and even me. According to Brandon:

During the time that I served as editor-in-chief, I learned the most about the importance of free speech and a free press. Thankfully I never felt the sort of censorship at Wabash which threatens so many of our nation's colleges and universities. I did, however enjoy continually engaging the campus community and discussing important, and often controversial, ideas. I am looking forward to working with my new colleagues at FIRE to connect students and faculty with the resources that Campus Freedom Network offers. FIRE is on the front lines of the fight for the soul of the modern academy and I am delighted to be working for such a unique organization.

Brandon's primary responsibilities are reaching out to students and helping manage the CFN, so those of you who will be attending our first ever CFN conference in Philadelphia next week will certainly get chance to meet him.
