FIRE welcomes Kayla Gubov to staff

Kayla Gubov has joined FIRE’s staff as FIRE President and CEO Greg Lukianoff’s new executive assistant.

Based out of FIRE’s Washington, D.C., office, Kayla will support Greg as he promotes FIRE’s mission on multiple fronts, and will also work closely with FIRE’s development team.

“I am so excited to be working for such an incredible organization,” Kayla said. “I have admired FIRE’s work for years.”

A recent graduate of George Washington University, Kayla fought for free speech on campus throughout her college years, including working extensively with GW student organizations to promote viewpoint diversity.

“College students should consider civil liberties one of the most important issues in their young adult lives,” Kayla said.

“This has never been an only ‘left or right’ issue,” she added. “Both sides of the aisle can have severe moments of suppression. Students need to stand up for the First Amendment now, and stand up for their own beliefs, before their views are the ones being silenced.”

Kayla comes to FIRE from the White House’s Office of National Drug Control Policy, where she worked on a team dedicated to combating the U.S. opioid epidemic. She previously interned at multiple think tanks focused on Middle East policy.

“I’m excited to use my skills and help FIRE continue to grow and thrive,” she said.
