Former Intern David Deerson Pens 'How To' Guide for Inviting a FIRE Speaker
Over at the Students For Liberty blog, 2011 FIRE intern and University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill (UNC) junior David Deerson has posted a blog entitled "How To Organize a FIRE OCR Event on Your Campus." After organizing a successful event hosting FIRE Vice President Robert Shibley on UNC's campus last month, David is sharing his experience with fellow students interested in planning their own speeches. His article includes some great tips about promoting a speech, including strategies for Facebook, flyering, chalking, and reaching out to campus news outlets. He also has advice on recruiting additional campus groups to co-sponsor an event.
Many thanks to David for arranging a FIRE Speakers Bureau event, and for encouraging other students to do the same! You can check out his full checklist here, and if you are interested in inviting a FIRE speaker to your campus, click here.
