Free-Speech Group Unveils Guides to Student Rights

In an attempt to “roll back threats” to individual liberties in academe, the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education on Tuesday unveiled a series of books that discuss student rights. The five books, written by legal scholars, cover issues of free speech, due process, religious freedom, student fees, and ideological intimidation at public and private colleges.

“Students must know that they are not alone,” said Alan Charles Kors, president and co-director of the Philadelphia-based nonprofit organization, known as FIRE. “A nation that does not educate in liberty will not long preserve it. ... More tragically, it will not know when it has lost it.”
