Host a Screening of ‘Can We Take a Joke?’ On Your Campus!

We hope you’ve enjoyed celebrating Free Speech Week with FIRE. Even though our series ends today, don’t let the fun end here! Keep the celebration going by hosting a screening of Can We Take A Joke? on your campus.
FIRE supported this important documentary to explore how comedy has been one of the casualties of “outrage culture.” Comedy has long been a powerful medium for tackling difficult subjects. But audiences, especially on college campuses, seem increasingly unwilling to grant comedians the artistic license to do so. Top comedians like Chris Rock and Jerry Seinfeld have avoided the college circuit altogether out of fear of sanction.

The film has received ringing endorsements and features free speech experts and comedy heavyweights like Gilbert Gottfried, Penn Jillette, and Adam Carolla. Reviewers have called the film “hilarious,” “vitally important,” and “the most essential documentary of the year.”
Plan a movie night with your friends or organize a viewing party with your student group and see for yourself!
