Kaminer on the "Loneliness of the Civil Libertarian Feminist
In her most recent column for The Atlantic, author, lawyer, and FIRE Board of Advisors member Wendy Kaminer makes her case that "Civil libertarian feminists have always been a political minority, but these days we seem on the verge of extinction," using the Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights (OCR) investigation of Yale University for allowing misogynistic speech—not actions—by male students as an example. Kaminer also opines that the recent "Dear Colleague" letter to colleges from OCR, about which FIRE issued a statement on Monday, "displays much more concern for the sensitivities of accusers over the rights of the accused." Be sure to check out Kaminer's insightful column!
