As Trinity College President, Board Chairman Announce Plans to Step Down, FIRE Discusses Harsh New 'Social Code' with Students
In a surprise announcement this morning, Trinity College (Hartford, Conn.) President James Jones announced his intention to step down from his post in June 2014, one year earlier than the end of his contract. Jones announced in the same email that Board of Trustees Chair Paul E. Raether will also be leaving the Trustees' top position. Trinity's two top leaders announced their departures just as student and alumni dissatisfaction reaches a boil over a new social code that tramples freedom of association and effectively bans fraternities and sororities through gender quotas. FIRE President Greg Lukianoff is on campus tonight to address these issues and today's developments with the Inter-Greek Council. FIRE will have more tomorrow on this stunning turn of events.
