It is fundamental to the concepts of academic freedom and equal opportunity that each member of the College community be treated with dignity and without regard to any factor irrelevant to participation in the activities of the community. An important question is always whether the conduct is unwelcome to the individual to whom it is directed, regardless of the intentions of the actor. Sexual harassment may include unwelcome verbal comments, written harassment via notes, letters, or electronic mail messages and displays on public work stations
