Support FIRE’s Work Today—We Can’t Do It Alone

The past year has been an absolute whirlwind for FIRE!

You’d be hard-pressed to read the news these days and not see a free speech or due process controversy erupting on campus. In light of stifling speech codes, calls for “safe spaces,” widespread censorship, and the proliferation of unfair campus tribunals, we have our work cut out for us. We must ensure that the fundamental democratic principles that protect civil liberties on America’s campuses are not forgotten.

But don’t be discouraged: These are battles we’re winning here at FIRE.

Last year was one of our most successful to date, and just this month, we marked even more progress: The City University of New York’s (CUNY’s) Faculty Senate affirmed their commitment to the principles of the Chicago Statement, and the University of Chicago reformed all of its speech codes and became the 27th institution to earn FIRE’s highest, “green light” rating in our Spotlight Speech Codes Database. FIRE also made headway on the due process front, putting out a first-of-its-kind call to represent a student or institution willing to challenge the legality of federal government mandates on campus sexual misconduct.

But with big progress comes even bigger obstacles. As we grow by the day, our opposition does, too. In short, we’re gearing up to take on our largest challenges yet—but we simply cannot do it alone.

With more work to be done on the free speech front, FIRE needs the support of generous donors like you to continue effectively fighting for liberty on campus. We ask you to consider making a donation today to help support our work. Work that benefits all of us.

All gifts made to FIRE are 100 percent tax-deductible and, as you can see, help us improve the lives of countless students and faculty across the country.

Your donation today can make the difference.
