Campus Advocacy Team
As Director of Campus Rights Advocacy at the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, Lindsie Rank leads a team of attorneys and advocates defending students and faculty from censorship. A First Amendment attorney with a background in media law, she first worked with FIRE in 2015 as a legal intern. She now leads her team to hold universities accountable, develop advocacy strategies, and catalyze speech-protective cultures on campus.
Lindsie knows these battles firsthand. As a student journalist in high school and college, she experienced censorship herself, shaping her commitment to expressive freedom. She went on to earn a J.D. and an M.A. in mass communication from the University of North Carolina, where her research focused on the legal and institutional pressures facing student media. Before joining FIRE, she was a legal fellow at the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, where she fielded hotline calls from journalists nationwide on issues ranging from defamation to access.
When she’s not taking on censorship, Lindsie is spending time with her husband, son, and two dogs — or sewing a perfectly tailored blazer.
